Introduction

On the occasion of the OIE General Session 2001, the FAO EMPRES team was pleased to announce the launch of a major new multimedia resource CD-ROM and Website, Good Emergency Management Practice (GEMP), developed by the Aleff Group, member of the AVIS Partenariat.

Good Emergency Management Practice (GEMP) is a suite of emergency planning and response tools for epizootic disease prevention and control. GEMP covers List A and List B diseases.

The EMPRES team has developed this GEMP multimedia and internet-based resource program to provide two types of service:

  • operational assistance in setting up emergency prevention and response capabilities

  • comprehensive, authoritative, peer-reviewed documentation written by experts in the field with extensive senior management experience in this field.

You may request this service at any time. You are also encouraged to make full use of this resource, and of the other capabilities of the EMPRES team, as described on the EMPRES web site www.fao.org/empres.

Available on CD-ROM and and the Internet, see the FAO website http://www.fao.org/livestock/agah/empres/GEMP/index.html
