• Must be carried out with the absolute minimum of delay after confirmation of the diagnosis.

• All susceptible animals on the IP must be destroyed whether showing clinical signs of FMD or not.

• Carcasses must be destroyed in a manner not likely to result in further spread of disease.

• Incineration or burial on the IP is the option of choice.

• If incineration or burial are not possible for environmental reasons, removal to a rendering plant in sealed containers must be considered.
