Control of animal movements

 

 
  • Control of animal movement is imposed immediately upon suspicion of disease.

  • It is usual to impose two controlled areas around an infected premises.

  • This is reinforced upon confirmation of disease.

  • Routine surveillance of animals in the immediate vicinity of the infected premises for signs of disease.

  • All movements prohibited from farms at risk.

  • Movements from farms within the restricted areas can only occur under licence and then only directly to the slaughterhouse.

  • Not lifted until at least 28 days after completion of slaughter and disinfection on the infected premises.
