Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)

Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) are susceptible to natural infection with FMD virus. Severe lesions, similar to those in cattle, may occur in and around the mouth and on the feet. A high mortality rate may result in water buffalo calves.
