In warthogs (Phacochoerus aethiopicus) and bush pig (Potamochoerus
porcus) the disease is similar to that in domestic swine. In Israel,
infection has been found in wild boars on a premises where an outbreak
had occurred in cattle. Under experimental conditions, wild boars infected
by contact with infected domestic pigs developed small vesicles along
the coronary bands of the feet and in the interdigital spaces. These ruptured
to form shallow erosions. Lameness was not a feature. Lesions were also
found post-mortem in the mouth of a wild boar.
