Differential Diagnosis

Cattle - Feet and/or Legs

 

Mucosal Disease

 

Presence of high fever (40-41ºC), laminitis, coronitis, and erosive lesions of the skin of the interdigital cleft, usually affecting all four feet. Morbidity low but case fatality rate high (over 90%). Generally affects animals aged 6 to 24 months of age.

Differentiated from FMD by the absence of vesicular lesions in MD, by the high morbidity in all ages and by case fatalities in young animals only in FMD.
