Serotype
There are seven serotypes of FMD virus and within each serotype there are strains of different:

    Infectivity: The ability of the virus to enter and replicate in a host

    Virulence: A measure of the severity of the disease

    Pathogenicity: The ability of the virus to cause disease in a particular host species, breed, sex, age group, etc.

There are no experimental data which show a particular serotype to be the most pathogenic.
