The Asia 1 serotype is restricted to the Middle and Far East. It rarely
causes outbreaks in pigs, and is mainly seen in the cattle and Asian buffalo
populations. This serotype has been found circulating in association with
serotype O and/or serotype A, and its presence in diagnostic samples may
be missed.
