Control of movement is greatly assisted if natural features such as rivers
or mountain ranges can be used to delineate FMD-infected from FMD-free
areas. Freedom from FMD on a national basis is often achieved by dividing
the country into zones based on natural features and then achieving freedom
in each area progressively.
