Vaccination Programme According to Risk


Cattle

Vaccinate at 2.5 months if born of vaccinated or convalescent dams, otherwise no limit

   

Buffer Zone

Primary course of two vaccinations and booster 1 year later and at 1 year intervals subsequently

   

Enzootic Area

Primary course of two vaccinations and booster 6 months later and at 6 months intervals subsequently

   

Epizootic Area

Primary course of two vaccinations and booster 4 months later and at 4 month intervals subsequently


Pigs

Vaccinate at 2.5 months if born of vaccinated or convalescent sows, otherwise 30 days

   

Buffer Zone

Not normally advised for economic reasons

   

Enzootic Area

All piglets ~ one vaccination except those more at risk and from non-vaccinated sows ~ two vaccinations, 4 to 5 weeks apart. Boars and sows boosted every 6 months

   

Epizootic Area

All piglets from 14 days old ~ two vaccinations 4 to 5 weeks apart. Booster 3 months later if kept beyond 6 months. Boars and sows boosted every 4 months or before farrowing


Sheep/Goats

Vaccinate at 1.5 months if born of vaccinated or convalescent ewes, otherwise no limit

   

Buffer Zone

Questionable requirement ~ not usually done. Otherwise, one vaccination per year

   

Enzootic Area

Primary course of two vaccinations and booster 1 year later and at 1 year intervals subsequently

   

Epizootic Area

Primary course of two vaccinations and booster 1 year later and at 1 year intervals subsequently
